Here is my first attempt at painting 54mm figures. I was pleased to be able to use plain block colours and no shading which certainly speeded up the process which is what I wanted with very little spare time. After years of painting 15mm and 28mm figures with heavy shading it was a real joy to return to basics. I used a white undercoat on this one but will return to black I think for the future. Sir Gilbert will be in command of one of my Royalist foot regiments, as he looks suitably cavalier. The figure is an old Sandersen one I think from my odds box.

TAKING THE PLUNGE
Hello and welcome to my first ever blog, I am a computer numpty so I expect I will make basic errors in presentation and general day to day stuff, so please bear with me . I have been prevaricating about doing this for ages but have finally acquired a laptop which I can keep near the painting table! Initially I was going to make this a bespoke 54mm (or 1/32 if you prefer) English Civil War (ECW) blog but considering the slow pace at which I get stuff done, I decided to incorporate all the modelling and gaming stuff I am doing. That said my current project is 54mm ECW in a classic toy soldier style (basic block painting). The project is really starting from scratch, so I am kicking off with a photo of my new wargames table in my new(ish) wargames room (aka The Growlery) ! Over the next few millenia I shall hopefully add terrain and figures, and may even get round to a game or two.
