ANNUAL REVIEW 2015

Quite a productive year really, I surprised myself when I laid all the figures out I had painted this year

Grand review

25mm figures. Mainly for the Thistlewood project over on my Fantasy Blog, but there are some figures for the Conan project, plus generic terrain and a group of 16 random Vikings in the middle.

Here we have the 54 ECW stuff I finished in the first part of the year, plus a single Napoleonic bod.

I have managed to complete one of my goals, getting the ECW figures done, and have almost finished the Thistlewood Oldhammer project, only 20 more villagers to do.

A total of
306 54mm Figures (I cheated by including the horses...well they are very big)
159 25/28mm Figures

465 in all, so a good improvement on last year.

In 2016 I hope to
1. HAVE A GAME!!! I have a small one hour wargame booked with a friend in January.
2.Complete Thistlewood in the first week or so of the year.
3. Paint up a few Frostgrave figures to play with my oldest son.
4. Paint up a couple of Lion Rampant, Robin of Sherwood forces (Wolfshead Rampant)
5. Complete a few regiments of Prehammer figures to play Reaper or Chainmail
6. Do some more 54mm Funny Little Wigs/ Marlburian chaps.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!!

A REVIEW OF 2014'S PAINTING

I'm quite glad to see the back of 2014 for one reason or another, but at least the painting front has been active, if not the blogging....

Here is the annual parade of the year's work (less a few 1/72 Marlburians I forgot about) and I rebased my entire Oldhammer collection as I wasn't happy with the drab modern look (reverted to bright green, much better). Many of these figures feature on my other blogs, or have yet to be posted on this one.

Backdrop painted for fantasy games on reverse of existing green countyside backdrop

Leftside back - Hordes of the Things Ice Dwarf army and Christmas figure
Leftside front- 3 Oldhammer figures for my semi-dormant Thistlewood project
Leftside middle- 28mm 18c Imagi-nation figures
Middle- Old school Conan figures
Rightside back-Old school Conan Stygians
Rightside front- D &D figures

Leftside back- 2 54mm ECW regiments and Witchfinder figures
Leftside front- 54mm Little Wigs characters
Rightside back-54mm Imagi-nation characters and regiment
Rightside Middle and Front-54mm Army Red for  Little Wigs

A total of
120 54mm Figures
191 28mm Figures
12   1/72 Figures

so not bad, but not as good as last year. For 2015 my aims (ha ha) are the following

Complete 54mm ECW armies to re-fight the Lansdown campaign
Continue 54mm Little Wigs project including making some moulds to cast my own figures
Finally finish my Oldhammer Thistlewood project, including terrain
Continue my Old School Conan armies with some terrain pieces
reduce the amount of figures I buy... I am running out of room.

it remains to be seen if I get any of this done, but fingers crossed I should get at least 2 of the above completed by the end of 2015.

A Very Happy New Year to all reader. Cheers!!.

ROUNDING THE YEAR OFF AND TAKING STOCK

As the year draws to a close, I darted into the attic tonight to lay out the years painting and was pleasantly surprised by the amount I had completed. The latest and probably most useful project was the completion of a backdrop for my gaming table as I have been casting covetous eyes at other folks railway backdrops. I decided to have a bash at doing my own, constructing free standing boards  of 3mm mdf  to go round 3 sides of my 6'x 4' table. The scene is primarily for Imagi-nation use but looks suitably English to double as an ECW backdrop too (it is in fact based on the skyline of Stourhead Gardens , Wiltshire). On the reverse I plan to paint a more rugged fantasy scene for my Oldhammer and Conan figures.

Here are the figures completed in 2013 for various projects and in different styles and scales

From the left, Old school 25mm Aquilonians
25mm Nemedians
54mm Imagi-nation characters
D and D figures
Lord Vassago's Oldhammer Army (Thistlewood)
King Amias' Oldhammer Army (Thistlewood) (must get the last few figures finished and based)
In the background left, some Old school Conan characters and 2 x 28mm Imagi-nation follies
and the backdrop itself, just finished

A total of
43 25mm Cavalry
42 25mm Monsters
424 25mm Infantry
12 54mm Figures

Huzzah!!

Some more pics of the backdrop from my new blog Mars in Arcadia

A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL READERS!!!!!!!!!!!
